Miss. Releases August Unemployment Numbers

JACKSON, Miss. (WCBI) — The state has released its latest August unemployment numbers.

Data from the Mississippi Department of Employment Security shows the state’s not seasonally adjusted unemployment rate for August is 5.6 percent.

That’s down 1.3 percentage points from July, and 2.1 points from August 2014.

In the WCBI viewing area, Union and Lafayette Counties had the lowest August unemployment rate of 4.4 percent.

Clay County had the highest with 9.2 percent.
