Mississippi Guard Members Prepare For Texas Training

JACKSON, Miss. (WCBI) — Some Mississippi troops will be participating in a big exercise next month.

The 155th Armored Brigade Combat Team, Mississippi Army National Guard, will head to Fort Hood, Texas in June for a Multi-echelon Integrated Brigade Training exercise.

The training will last for most of the month.

It will showcase 155, and other Army groups.

The exercise will enhance their offensive, defensive and fire support operations.

It’ll also prepare them for future combat training.

“This is a huge operation,” said Maj. Gen. Augustus L. Collins, the adjutant general of Mississippi. “Anytime you start moving an element the size of a brigade combat team, which is up to about 3900 soldiers at one time, it takes a lot of people, it takes a lot planning, it takes a lot of coordination to be able to pull something like this off.”

The 155th Armored Brigade Combat Team is headquartered in Tupelo, and has battalion headquarters across the state.
