Video: Mississippi Number One in Most Municipal Smoke-free Ordinances

JACKSON, Miss. (WCBI)- Mississippi is number one in passing the most municipal smoke-free ordinances in the Country.

Americans for Nonsmokers’ Rights, designate the Magnolia state as the 2014 first place winner.

On Tuesday, 14 cities in Mississippi passed smoke-free ordinances, and where honored by the Mississippi Department of Health.

Overal,l 101 Mississippi communities have smoke-free ordinances, of which 51 have included regulations for E-cigarettes.

Locally, Columbus, West Point, Starkville, and Tupelo have smoke-free ordinances in place. Each year the state spends $1.23 billion on healthcare costs associated with tobacco use.
