Mississippi to Host First Book Festival

JACKSON, Miss. (WCBI) — If you’re a book worm, Jackson is the place to be this weekend.

Authors from all over the Magnolia State are taking over the capitol, Saturday, for the first Mississippi Book Festival.

There, you can take advantage of various author readings, signings, and live music.

The festival’s goal is to celebrate authors and their literary work.

“It brings together writers from all over the state, and it really makes writing visible,” said Kendall Dunkelberg, MUW English professor. “We have been focusing a lot on the creative economy the last couple of years, and literature is one of Mississippi’s greatest exports.”

The free festival takes place Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the state capitol.
