Video: Mississippi’s Prepaid College Tuition Board Looks at Options
MISS. (WCBI) – Mississippi’s Prepaid Affordable College Tuition plan’s reopening is still hanging in the balance.
It’s not clear when, or if, the plan will reopen for enrollment, but if it does, charges could go up by at least 20%.
The board that runs the program voted Wednesday to ask actuaries to prepare figures for how much the plan would have to charge in the future to avoid deficits.
The board also wants to see if they can use income from the state’s unclaimed property to pay down a projected $82 million due to bad investment performance and higher-than-projected tuition increases.
