Mississippi’s Unemployment Rate Hits 7.1 Percent

MISSISSIPPI (WCBI) — December’s unemployment rates are in, but the rates for the Golden Triangle and state saw a slight increase.

Mississippi’s unemployment rate rose to 7.1 percent in December, up from November’s 6.4 percent.

The Golden Triangle as a whole saw an increase in its unemployment rates, with Clay County hitting the highest unemployment rate with 14.4 percent.

Lowndes County came in with 8.3 percent last month, up from 7.6 percent.

Oktibbeha County had the lowest unemployment rate among the tri-county area with a flat 7 percent, up from November’s 6.1 percent.
