Monroe County Trooper Lands Major MHP Role

Public Safety Commissioner Albert Santa Cruz today announced the appointment of Major Randy Ginn as Lt. Colonel/Chief of the Uniform Division of the Mississippi Highway Patrol and the appointment of Lt. Colonel Kevin Myers as Director of the Department of Public Safety’s Administrative Operations.

Major Ginn graduated with MHP Class 45 and worked in Monroe County in Troop G. He has held several positions during his career with the patrol; to include trooper, MBI Special Agent, district executive officer and troop commander. Specialized training Lt. Col. Ginn has received while at MHP includes crime scene investigation, homicide investigation, automobile theft and he is also a graduated Session 234 of the famed FBI National Academy.

Major Ginn has a bachelor’s degree in Public Administration from Ole Miss. Lt. Col. Ginn resides in Amory with his wife, Rhonda, and two children, Andrew and Jordan. They attend First Baptist Church of Amory.

Lt. Colonel Myers graduated with MHP Class 48. Upon graduation he worked in the enforcement division of troops J and C. In 1996 he received Tri-County State Officer of the Year and Metro Top Cop. He then transitioned into executive protection serving as director for Speaker Tim Ford. Lt. Col. Myers was asked to serve as Legislative Liaison for the Department of Public Safety (DPS) where he was successful in getting legislative and budgetary items passed that focused on making the life of a trooper better. Governor Bryant then tapped Lt. Col. Myers as director of Lt. Governor’s Security and then transitioned him to director of Governor’s security.

Myers will be transitioning from chief of MHP Enforcement Division to Director of Administrative Operations of DPS.

Myers’ father and uncle are both retired troopers.  Myers received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Mississippi in 1991. He and his wife, Lynne, live in Gluckstadt with their daughter, Mason.  They attend Flora United Methodist Church.
