Monroe Dog Ordinance Takes Effect

MONROE COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) — Monroe County’s new vicious dog law takes effect Friday.

Supervisors spent months debating the new rules after Supervisor Carol Crawford raised the issue early this year. The new rules finally were adopted last month.

The rules define a vicious dog and differences between attacks on humans and attacks on other animals. It gives enforcement authority to the sheriff’s department.

Supervisors say they hope it will cut down on the number of stray and roaming dogs and improve safety for residents.
