More People Encouraged To Consider Adoption

TUPELO, Miss. (WCBI) — A Christian international and domestic adoption agency is encouraging more people to consider the plight of orphans.

“New Beginnings” held its annual “Celebration of Adoption” Banquet Thursday evening in Tupelo.

Hundreds of people heard about the need for both domestic and international adoptions.

Researcher and Author George Barna was guest speaker and he said there are many ways to become involved in the adoption process.

“Now, if you don’t adopt, you can still support the families, support the children, through friendship, through other acts of kindness, you can also get involved in trying to change some of the legislation relating to how adoption works, because there are all kinds of problems, as you can imagine, with that,” Barna said.

The “Adoption Service Award” was posthumously to Congressman Alan Nunnelee. His family accepted the award on behalf of the late congressman. An update was also given on New Beginnings orphanage in Nepal. That country was hit hard by an earthquake earlier this year.
