Mossy Oak Golf Media Tour

WEST POINT, Miss. (WCBI) — The Mississippi State University athletic director, coaches, and staff hosts a media tour of the golf practice properties at Mossy Oak Golf Club in West Point.

MSU golf team members now have a place to hang out while perfecting their golf game. The $2.4 million project at Mossy Oak Golf Club is a dream come true.

“Most of these student athletes already have their own swing instructor, but I’m just another set of eyes and ears for them to help them on a daily basis and to make sure that their short games are in top shape at all times,” said Clay Homan/MSU Coach.

The latest mega sports training complex is sure to rival any location or collegiate program in the country.

“We have Buddy Alexander a former coach at the university of Florida come in here and he was there for 36 years and he has been everywhere and all over and seen the best facilities and he said this is a top three facility anywhere in the country,” said Clay Homan.

“We have a practise facility that was designed by one of the best architects in the country, Gill Hanse. He designed the course in Rio De Janeiro for the Olympic Games the first year that golf will be played in the olympics,” said Ginger Brown-Lemm/MSU Coach.

“We have coaches offices here, we have a putting room, we have a training room. We have indoor hitting bays. So we try to think of every single thing our student athlete would need. Where they can train rain or shine hot or cold. It doesn’t really matter and they are utilizing that to the fullest,” said Clay Homan.

The SEC is the most competitive conference in the United States for men and women golf, so in camps held at the club, a lot is being addressed at a place thats already becoming a fabulous recruiting tool.

“We are literally recruiting 8th and 9th graders now. So we are really up, its been an amazing turn of the tide. So we are really getting access to the top tier athletes,” said Ginger Brown-Lemm.

A soft opening is set for sometime in September.
