Video: Mother of Alabama Basketball Star Arrested in Kemper Co. Kidnapping

KEMPER COUNTY, Miss. – (WCBI) The mother of Alabama basketball star Devonta Pollard is accused of kidnapping the 6-year old little girl who was snatched from East Kemper Elementary.

54-year old Jessie Maye Brown Pollard stood in a federal courtroom in Jackson Thursday on kidnapping charges.

Pollard was denied bond, for accusations that prompted a multi-agency search for six year old Jashayla Hopson.

Thankfully, Hopson was found safely after she was reportedly put out of a car on a Lauderdale County road.

Pollard and Hopson’s mother, Rochelle Ford allegedly have an ongoing dispute.

Surveillance video played a key role in Pollard’s arrest.Other arrests may be pending.
