MS Charter Schools Receive $125K in Funding

JACKSON, Miss. (WCBI) – The Mississippi Charter School Authorizer Board voted to accept a total of $125k in grants on Monday. The Mississippi Common Fund Foundation provided the board $100,000, and Mississippi First Inc. provide the other $25,000.

Funding has been the main priority for the newly developed charter school program. Essentially, a charter school is a public school run by a private group that is required to meet certain specifications.

No funding was allotted to the charter school bill when it was passed. The board will also receive three percent of state aid from the schools after they are established.
