MS Supreme Court Upholds Murder Conviction

JACKSON, Miss. – (WCBI) The Mississippi Supreme Court affirms the murder conviction of Becky Jones. Jones argued her conviction be reversed because evidence of her prior drug use should have been excluded in the trial.

A Prentiss County jury ruled Jones intentionally shot and killed her mother in May 2010. She was sentenced to life in prison.

During the trial, 50-year old Jones testified that her mother attacked her. As they struggled, the pistol fired twice. Justices disagreed with her argument.

Jones will be able to apply for parole when she turns 65.
