MSU Students Displaced After Dorm Fire

STARKVILLE, Miss. (WCBI) — Nearly 200 Mississippi State University female students are being displaced because of a fire at their residence hall on campus.

MSU officials say the fire started around 8 p.m., Sunday, on the third floor of Oak Hall.

They say it was caused by a candle burning in one of the rooms.

School officials say they are working to get the students immediate housing Sunday night, and placed into more permanent housing, Monday.

Oak Hall suffered fire and smoke damage, plus extensive water damage from its fire suppression system.

No injuries have been reported.
