JACKSON, Miss. (AP) – Mississippi’s two largest universities could increase tuition by 5 percent a year over the next two years, while three smaller universities could hold tuition flat, according to a plan a College Board committee considered Wednesday.

While the board is likely to vote on the plan Thursday, rules require a second vote after 30 days. That means increases can’t become final until after the board meets in November.

The plans would push tuition above $7,000 a year at the University of Mississippi, Mississippi State University and the University of Southern Mississippi.

Delta State University, Mississippi Valley State University and Mississippi University for Women plan to hold prices flat. Alcorn State University and Jackson State University would also increase tuition, but at a lower rate.

Here are the 2014-2015 rates proposed for each university, as well as the percentage change from the current academic year:

Alcorn State: $6,200, up 1.5 percent
Delta State: $6,012, no change
Jackson State: $6,602, up 4 percent
Mississippi State: $7,140, up 5.4 percent (includes a $50-a-semester facilities charge)
Mississippi University for Women: $5,640, no change (includes a $50-a-semester facilities charge)
Mississippi Valley State: $5,916, no change
University of Mississippi: $7,096, up 5 percent (includes a $50-a-semester facilities charge approved in November)
University of Mississippi Medical Center: $6,996, up 5 percent
University of Southern Mississippi: $6,980, up 3.5 percent
