STARKVILLE, Miss. (WCBI) — For the next two days, thousands of school children will be attending an open house at Mississippi State University College of Veterinary Medicine’s Wise Center in Starkville.

Nothing like hands on experience under the watchful eyes of MSU veterinary students. They are being trained on the college level on how to help our four footed friends.

There is an animal show, petting zoo, hospital tours and educational sessions, while having fun. The 29th open house is sparking interest in these children who already know what they want to do later in life.

“To see so many animals is just a thrill to me,” said Kendal Houpt, open house attendee.

“I plan on being a veterinarian to help animals and to like keep them alive when they have something wrong with them,” said Pontotoc resident Maisy Canerdy.

One pet enthusiast attending the open house carries around an iphone picture of her pet. About 4,000 school children are expected to attend this years open house.
