STARKVILLE, Miss. (WCBI) – He’s used to hearing cowbells, but on Friday Dan Mullen rang another type of bell for the Salvation Army.

The Mississippi State football coach helped kick-off the organization’s annual Christmas Red Kettle Campaign in Starkville.

Kettles will be at Wal-Mart, Kroger, and Vowell’s Market Place.

The campaign will continue through Christmas Eve.

Mullen says this is the perfect time of year to help others.

“This community does so much for me and my family, supporting our football program. It’s really important for us to give back anyway we can possibly can. It’s great to be out here with the Salvation Army. They do so much for everybody in the community,” said Mullen.

The campaign raised $50,000 last year.
