WEST POINT, Miss. (WCBI)  – A man indicted for capital murder in Clay County is back in jail, after serving time in federal prison.

Avis Robinson, 32, is charged in the Dec. 16, 2011 robbery and shooting death of 42-year-old LeAundra “Poochie” Johnson in West Point. Johnson was shot and left for dead on Brady Street in West Point.

Clay County Sheriff Eddie Scott said Robinson was serving time in state prison on a possession of cocaine charge and was just released from federal prison for similar crimes.

Scott said Robinson has an extensive drug possession history.
Once he was released from prison, Robinson was  taken into custody and brought to Clay County.

A grand jury indicted Robinson on the capital murder charge last year.
