NAACP Names Award after Reed

TUPELO, Miss. (WCBI) – One of Tupelo’s own will be honored for his work with race relations Saturday night at the Tupelo-Lee County NAACP chapter’s annual banquet.

Jack Reed Sr. is a longtime businessman, supporter of public education and advocate for positive race relations. Reed has received several accolades for his work through the years.

Organizers founded the award to recognize the achievements of those making a difference in Tupelo’s continuing force to diversify the city and become a deterrent towards violence.

The first recipient of the Jack Reed Sr. Race Relations Diversity Award will be recognized at the Augustus Ashby Sr. Freedom Fund Banquet Saturday at 6 p.m.
