Names Of Pontotoc County Crash Victims Released, Mother And Two Children

PONTOTOC COUNTY, Miss. (M.H.P. Press Release) – The Mississippi Highway Patrol is still investing a one-vehicle crash in Pontotoc County that claimed life of a Calhoun City mother and two of her children.

Troopers responded to MS 9s, near Randolph, at approximately 10:15am. Upon arriving it appeared Catina McBride, 29, of Calhoun City, was traveling north bound, in a 2006 Pontiac, when she apparently hit a patch of ice, lost control, and overturned several times.

McBride and her 11 year old daughter, Kaninya Guyton, died on the scene from injuries sustained from the crash.

Two other children were airlifted to LeBonheur Children’s Hospital in Memphis.

Kadiya McBride, 5, died after arriving at LeBonheur Children’s Hospital in Memphis. An eight year old child remains in critical condition.

It appears none of the occupants in the vehicle were using safety belts.

The case remains under investigation.
