National Day of Prayer at Tupelo City Hall

TUPELO, Miss. (WCBI) – Thursday was the National Day of Prayer.

For the 20th year in a row, Tupelo based American Family Association has hosted the event.

A crowd gathered at Fair Park, in front of city hall, to pray and sing.

A.F.A. President Tim Wildmon said believes it’s a good thing, praying at city hall is not a problem.

“Yeah fortunately prayer and city government has not been forbidden in Tupelo and in many places across the country. It hasn’t gotten to that point yet, ” said Wildmon.

Wildmon thanked Tupelo Mayor Jason Shelton, who again took part in the ceremony.  He spoke about last year’s event that took place just after the devastating tornado. The crowd was thankful the city has come a long way in recovering during the past year.
