COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) – Kids across the nation and area schools are standing up against tobacco for the 19th Annual KickButts Day.

Franklin Academy in Columbus held a health fair for kindergarten through 5th grade students. The students learned about the harmful effects of tobacco products through educational displays. It’s all about teaching student to stay tobacco free. More than 1,400 events are planned across the nation.

Each year, smoking kills 480,000 people in the U.S. and costs the nation at least $289 billion in health care bills and other economic losses.
