MANTACHIE, Miss. (WCBI) — The very first natural gas pump in the Northeast Mississippi is being installed.

Northeat Mississippi Natural Gas District in Mantachie soon be the new proud owner of a natural gas pump station.

The business was awarded a $150,000 grant from the state to help fund the project.

By the end of June, Natural Gas will offer customers gas for $1.68 a gallon.

District Manager, Mike Horton hopes this new gas pump will encourage other counties to adopt natural gas.

“It’s a lot cleaner. The truck runs a lot better. You don’t have to change the oil as often and you get probably three times as much use out of your oil because it stays cleaner. Also, there is more emission on the truck hardly at all with CNG,” says Mike Horton.

Horton’s business has saved more than $2,000 each month since running their vehicles on natural gas.
