ALCORN COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) — Tailing Mantachie’s introduction of natural gas station, the same service is coming to Alcorn County.

Public Service Commissioner Brandon Presley today announced a natural gas expansion in the county today.

Presley authorized the Corinth Gas and Water expansion last week.

The expansion is expected to service some 600 customers in Kendrick, Biggersville, Kossuth, Wenasoga and Glen areas.

Presley said the move is a great opportunity to save money.

“We know this will help residents have the same type of utility service in rural Alcorn County as metropolitan areas, and we should want Mississippi to have the level of service as other areas of the state, and this is a great step in the right direction,” Presley said.

Corinth Gas and Water officials estimate they’ll ring up a $339,000 construction bill for the project.
