COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) — The storm has passed and cleanup continues in the Lakeover Neighborhood after Thursday’s tornado.

More cleanup began today in the Lakeover Neighborhood after Thursday’s Evening Tornado damage.

The Disastrous Relief Team from East Columbus Fairview Baptist church had over one hundred volunteers to help clean up.

Coordinator Tommy Gillon says that they try to help communities whenever they can.

“We just try to help the community where ever we are, of course we’ve been out of the state before, but we want to give back to our community also. When this storm hit we certainly just took time to say hey here’s the need y’all come on and help,” Gillon said.

The Relief team also gave out hamburgers and hotdogs to over three hundred people in the Lakeover and Timber Creek community on Saturday.
