Nettleton Voters Elect New Mayor and Ward 2 Alderman

NETTLETON, Miss. (WCBI) – A North Mississippi town has some new leadership.

On Tuesday Nettleton residents  voted in a new mayor, and Ward 2 Alderman during a special election.

Mem Riley defeated Buddy Coggin and Sherry Garrett to serve out the term of former Mayor Jimmy Taylor, who moved to Florida earlier this year…

G.C. Rudy edged out Mark Burroughs to represent Ward Two on the Nettleton Board of Aldermen for the remainder of Gail Senter’s term.

Senter resigned her post in August.

Riley and Rhudy will be sworn into office Thursday in the board room of Nettleton City Hall.

 

Final vote tallies:

Mayor

Buddy Coggin – 47

Sherry Garrett – 193

x Mem Riley – 256 (51.61%)

 

Alderman – Ward 2

Mark Burroughs – 61

x G.C. Rhudy – 85
