New Albany Could Be Months Away From Going Wet

NEW ALBANY, Miss. (WCBI)-New Albany could still be a few months away from going wet. Aldermen unanimously gave preliminary approval to an ordinance legalizing the sale of wine and liquor inside city limits. A public hearing on the proposed ordinance is set for the next city meeting May 7th.

Aldermen may vote on it then, or ask for it to be rewritten based on the hearing. If the ordinance is enacted May 7th it still will not take effect for 30 days. The ordinance is currently written to reflect state law already in force and to track the city’s beer sales regulations.
