New Albany Liqour Petition

NEW ALBANY, Miss. (WCBI) – A group of New Albany are residents are at it again in an attempt to get a vote on the sale of wine and spirits in the city limits.

The group named “New Albany Spirit” has petitions going around asking people to sign in hopes of having the council take it up for a vote. According to the state ordinance governing the topic, any petition asking municipality’s to hold an election must be signed by at least 20% of its registered voters.

The petitions were located at several local businesses and the group is asking residents to have a voice.The group will need approximately 1,100 voters to sign the petitions before any action can be taken.
