New Albany Man Indicted for Exploiting a Child

NEW ALBANY, Miss. (WCBI) – A New Albany man has been indicted and is awaiting trial for the exploitation of a child.

Benjamin Bishop, 25, was indicted by the Union County Grand Jury on charges he had inappropriate relations with a 15-year-old. Bishop was part-time jailer at the Union County Sheriff’s Department as well as a minister.

If he is convicted he could face up to 40 years in prison and up to a $500,000 fine. He is free on $25,000 bond.
