New Calhoun City Police Chief to Start in Oct.

CALHOUN CITY, Miss. (WCBI)- The transition to a new police chief will go smoothly in Calhoun City.

Long-time chief Benny Langford gave city leaders notice earlier this year that he intended to retire September 30th.

Aldermen now officially have named Assistant Chief Tito Lopez to fill the position. He’ll officially take over October 1st when a new budget year starts.

Lopez has worked his way up through the ranks. He was a patrolman before being named assistant chief when Greg Pollan was elected sheriff in 2012.
