New Community Center Opens

CALEDONIA, Miss. (WCBI) – Lowndes county residents now have a new community center to enjoy.

It’s been years in the making but on Saturday,  a grand opening ceremony was held at the new Caledonia Community Center.

The new spot will serve as a venue for occasions such as; wedding receptions, meetings and school functions.

The project was made possible through a partnership between city and county government, along with the Recreation Authority.

Organizers say the growth of Caledonia is why the building is needed.

“It’s going to be a real asset to the town and I think it’s going to be something the citizens are going to be able to enjoy for the next decade or so and I think it’s a wonderful deal,” said President of the Lowndes County Board of Supervisors, Harry Sanders.
The community center will also be the new voting prescient.
