New Trial Ordered For Monroe County Man

JACKSON, Miss. (AP) – The Mississippi Supreme Court has ordered a new trial for a Monroe County man convicted of murder in the 2007 shooting death of his wife.

The Supreme Court ruled Thursday that the trial judge erred in allowing testimony from an incident reconstructionist and computer-generated images that relied on the pathologist’s approximation of relevant angles and distances and failed to take into account the testing by the firearms examiner.

Parvin was arrested in 2009 and charged with the death of his wife, Joyce.

Parvin was convicted in 2011. He was sentenced to life in prison.

Parvin had claimed he tripped while walking with a shotgun in his hand and the gun discharged and hit his wife as she sat in a chair in their home.
