New Trial Ordered In Lowndes Shooting
JACKSON, MS (WCBI) A Vernon Alabama man will get a third trial in connection with a 2008 shooting at a Lowndes County bar
The State Supreme Court today reversed the 2012 manslaughter conviction of James Newell. Newell was convicted in the 2008 death of Adrian Boyette at the Slab House Bar. In the ruling, The Court questioned whether Doctor Steven Hayne properly testified when he told jurors Boyette was in a guarded position when Newell shot him. Newell has claimed the shooting was in self defense. This is the second time Newell has had a conviction tossed. His first manslaughter conviction was also reversed back in 2010
