COLUMBUS, MISS. (WCBI) – – New Year, new me, doesn’t just apply to people it also applies to businesses. As we begin the next three hundred and sixty-five days, stores begin their New Year’s Resolutions to better their business. Bride and Groom owner, Corie Walters says setting goals for the store allows it to continue to be the best that it can.

“I think it’s important to not only set goals at the first of the year, but throughout the year. As soon as you achieve one goal, you know, create another goal, so that you’re constantly making yourself better and improving; with every business, of course a goal is to increase sales and revenue, but it’s important for us to make sure that as we do that, we stay true to who we are, true to customer service.”

The store set and hit high goals in 2015 and are planning for an even bigger year of goals in 2016.

“Every year you have to set new goals for yourself. In 2015, we set a goal to be named the best bridal shop in the state of Mississippi. We were excited to have achieved that goal, so with 2016, of course, we would like to stay with that goal, and of course, maybe be known as the best bridal shop in the south, that would be a wonderful goal.”

They have the same goal for each year though, and that’s to keep helping brides and grooms looking fabulous. Coffee House on Fifth also plans to have similar goals in the new year, as they did in 2015, says employee, Ruthe Guerry.

“This past year has been a year of growing and expanding for us, and so in this coming year, it would be nice to continue that process, continue growing and expanding.”

Although businesses have their own resolutions, their workers set some of their own in order to better their work ethics, and that’s exactly what Guerry plans to do.

“Well you always want to get to know your customers better, and you want to have the best service possible, because we’re a customer run business, so we want to be better at meeting our customer needs.”

Park Place Boutique and Salon is anxious to see what the new year will bring for them, says sale associate, Katie Spidle.

“We’re just excited for another busy year in 2016. We’re very thankful for what we have now, and we’re just excited to see what God has in store for this year.”

Goal setting is something that customer, Noah Hirsh, doesn’t overlook.

“I think there’s always room for improvement. Whatever you do in life, I mean whether it’s your life or business or what not, you know, I mean weigh the pros and cons out as far as what works and what doesn’t, and you know, just go from there.”
