No Arrests in Duck Hill Slaying

Miers

DUCK HILL, Miss. (WCBI) — Montgomery County detectives continue to investigate the April 5 shooting death of a duck Hill woman in her home.

Sheriff Bubba Nix said this afternoon that his office continues to track down leads and interview potential witnesses in the death of 23-year-old Shayla Miers.

Investigators think Miers may have known her attacker because there was no sign of forced entry into her home. She was shot several times.

She was the manager of Popeye’s Chicken in Grenada.

Relatives say Miers’ mother and five-year-old daughter left the home for work and school at about 7 a.m. on April 5 and when the mother returned at about 6 that evening, she found Miers dead, still in her pajamas.

Her cell phone had been tampered with.

Anyone with information should call the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Department.
