No Shots Were Fired On Our Campus: Pres. Mark Keenum

MISSISSIPPI STATE, Miss. (WCBI-TV) An all clear has been issued on the Mississippi State University campus following a Maroon Alert for an active shooter.

Fhu-Qui Kong “Bill” Nguyen, a freshman from Madison is in custody. Charges are expected.

” No shots were fired on campus today,” says MSU President Mark Keenum.

Initial reports came into the 911 office ABOUT 10:10 A.M. on the MSU campus about a person with erratic behavior. He was apparently threatening suicide and harm against other people.

A Maroon Alert went out AT 10:16 this morning, alerting students and faculty to a possible active shooter on campus.

Per protocol, everyone was asked to shelter in place.

Nguyen was apprehended at 10:26 a.m.

Oktibbeha County Sheriff’s Department, the Mississippi Highway Patrol and the Oktibbeha County EMA worked the scene along with MSU Campus police.

There are no injuries.

All Activity was in the vicinity of Lee Hall and Carpenter Halls on campus. The person of interest was apprehended at McCool Hall.
