Non-Custodial Mother Arrested for Allegedly Kidnapping Her 13-Month-Old Child

MONROE COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) — Mississippi Highway Patrol located the non-custodial mother of a child after she allegedly kidnapped it from the legal guardians.

28-year-old Emily Vance, of Nettleton, allegedly took the 13-month-old child Jan. 1 from the custodial grandparents’ residence on Todd Lane in Monroe County.

According to a press release provided by the Monroe County Sheriff’s Department, Vance was driving a stolen truck while in possession of the child.

MHP authorities located Vance and the child in the stolen truck about 11:48 a.m. the same day in DeSoto County.

Per the release, the child was in “good condition and returned to the custodial grandparents.”

Vance is currently detained at the Monroe County Detention Center. She was charged with kidnapping and felony taking of a motor vehicle.

Vance’s bond has not been set.
