Video: Noxubee Alliance Banquet

MACON, Miss. (WCBI) – The Noxubee Alliance handed several awards Thursday night at its annual banquet.

This is the time for the economic development arm of the county to talk about projects from this past year and what it is working on to bring more jobs to the area.

Noxubee County High School Football Coach Tyrone Shorter was named man of the year. Sharon Gowan was named woman of the year.

Friend of the Festival went to Latonya Taylor. Business Member of the Year was awarded to Bogue Chitto Cotton Gin and the Entrepreneur Award was given to Magnolia Market.

Outgoing East Mississippi Community College President Dr. Rick Young was the keynote speaker.

He talked about the importance of education and how it impacts job creation.

“I think the contributions that the college has made, in terms of workforce training, has meant a lot in helping to bring in industry and provide job opportunities for our people in our area,” said Young.

The banquet was held at the civic center on Highway 45.
