Officer Remains on Leave

WEST POINT, Miss. (WCBI) — A West Point police officer remains on leave and under a doctor’s care 10 days after being involved in a domestic disturbance.

Jeremy Bell has been on leave since an off-duty March 2 incident with his girlfriend at Soprano’s in downtown West Point that moved to a nearby restaurant. Another officer calmed him down there.

Police Chief Tim Brinkley says his investigation showed Bell did not have his police weapon or threaten himself as originally reported by WCBI last week. The original information came from sources with the city.

Bell has been with the city less than two years.

It’s unclear when he’ll be released to return to work.
