Video: OHS Student-Published Newspaper Named Newspaper Pacemaker Finalist

OXFORD, Miss. (Press Release) — Oxford High School’s award-winning student-published newspaper, The Charger, is once again receiving national recognition for excellence as a 2014 National Scholastic Press Association (NSPA) Newspaper Pacemaker Finalist. The national contest yielded approximately 300 entries with The Charger nominated in the “Newspaper Broadsheet Nine to 16 pages” category.

Winners will be announced during the awards ceremony on Saturday, Nov. 8 at the Fall National High School Journalism Convention in Washington, D.C. Judges select Pacemakers based on the following: coverage and content, quality of writing and reporting, leadership on the opinion page, evidence of in-depth reporting, design, photography, art and graphics.
The NSPA Newspaper Pacemaker contest has recognized general excellence in scholastic newspapers for 87 years.
