Oktibbeha County Training School Reunion

Starkville, Miss. (WCBI) — This weekend brought the old Oktibbeha County Training School alumni together for their bi-annual reunion.

The Oktibbeha County Training School alumni are made up of all different classes of the 1st-12th grade school for children in Starkville before integration.

The group gathered at the Starkville Sportsplex Sunday for a picnic and they also gave away more than $12,000 in scholarships to area high school students this past Friday.

“If we, and they, feel that we can do something to help these kids…”, says President of the Oktibbeha County Training School-Henderson High School Scholarship Fund Charles Ware, “…and the next generation, I mean they’re doing it.”

17 students received scholarship money.
