Video: Oktibbeha Suspect Had Domestic Violence Charges Pending

OKTIBBEHA COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) — A Starkville man accused of killing a neighbor and then taking his own life has aggravated domestic assault charges pending and had a prior record of cocaine-related convictions.

According to Oktibbeha County Circuit Court re3cords, Terrance Grayer, 38, was due to be arraigned later this year on two aggravated domestic violence charges. They stemmed from incidents last summer involving Sarah Galinis, the same woman he tried to abduct early Saturday morning during a deadly dispute at an Oktibbeha County home.

He also had been convicted of selling cocaine in Oktibbeha County in 2001 and 2010. He was on probation and house arrest for the 20-10 conviction after serving part of a 16-year sentence.

Oktibbeha County Sheriff’s investigators and neighbors say Grayer apparently went to the home of 30-year-old James Chandler on John High Road early Saturday morning. The two men knew each other and during a dispute, Chandler was shot and Grayer took Galinis, Chandler’s live-in girlfriend, hostage.

She was able to escape from his truck nearby at the intersection with Highway 182. She called sheriff’s deputies while Grayer went to another location and picked up another woman, Tessa Weeks, and fled.

She was caught Saturday afternoon after a brief chase in Wayne County, Tennessee. Weeks is expected to be returned to Oktibbeha County this evening to face charges of accessory after the fact to murder.

Grayer fled on foot following the Tennessee car chase and was found dead Saturday night of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.
