WEBSTER COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI)-Family members and friends said Charles Gary was well known in the community.

They describe him as a cheerful person, who always had a smile on his face.

Since the tragic fire, hundreds of people have reached out to his family.
“Everyone loved him, he worked for everybody, he was a landscaper and you never saw him mad, and he did a wonderful job for everybody,” Charles Gary’s older brother, Willie Gary said.

A sad and emotional Willie Gary still hasn’t come to grips with the loss of his younger brother.

“My son just told me to get home, get home, get home, I said, ‘what’s wrong? But he wouldn’t tell me,” Gary said.

But once he arrived, Gary said it was a sight he’ll never forget.

“When I got close in and saw the lights, the fireman and stuff, so when I got here and they told me, well, he was over here and that was tragic, it really hurts,” he said.

Gary said Charles didn’t stay at the mobile home often.

However, last night he went there to get some clothes.

Now, all that’s left are the memories and the bond the two brothers shared.

“He used to come to my house and say, I wanna cut your shrubs and stuff,” Gary said.  “He always liked to keep my place looking good and he would be cutting my shrubs, I’d say, ‘nawl you done cut too much,’ he’d say ok, ok, then he’d go back to where he was.”

Charles was the 4th of 7 children.

Willie talked with his brother every day.

Now, he’s coming to grips with the fact he will never talk to Charles again.

When asked if he could say one last thing to his brother, he simply replied.

“I miss you, and I live you, and I appreciate everything that you did for me,” Gary said.

“The family is definitely going to miss him.”
The family says funeral arrangements have not yet been set.
