Ole Miss and LSU Game, Officers Involved In Punching A Man Being Arrested

OXFORD, MISS. (WCBI) By now you may have already seen the video, two officers fighting with a man at the Ole Miss and LSU game yesterday. The video was posted on Facebook by the assaulted man’s wife and is starting to go viral.
She says that he was arrested, posted bail, and then went to the emergency room where he was told he had a concussion, fractures to the bone under his eye, and contusions to his eye tissue. An investigation is underway by the University of Mississippi Police Department.

Oxford Police Department and the U.P.D. confirmed that it was neither an Oxford officer or U.P.D. officer involved. They have no other information to release at this time. Oxford Police Department did release this statement on their Facebook page.

“There is a video circulating around social media right now of an incident that occurred yesterday during the Ole Miss football game. We can confirm that the Oxford Police Department was not involved in any way with this incident. Any inquires should be directed to the University Police Department.”

University of Mississippi Police also put out a statement on their Facebook page here’s part of it:

“The University of Mississippi Police Department is aware of the video of an incident taking place at the Ole Miss-LSU football game. The officers involved are not officers with the University Police Department, but are certified officers from other jurisdictions hired to work security at home football games.The University of Mississippi Police Department takes this situation seriously, and is currently investigating the incident. We encourage anyone that witnessed the event to contact the department at 662-915-7234 or email us at upd@olemiss.edu.”

We did reach out to the family involved, but as of this time, have not heard back for comment.
