Ole Miss Sets 2:00 Press Conference on Chancellor Dan Jones

OXFORD, Miss. (AP) – The University of Mississippi is holding a news conference Thursday to discuss Chancellor Dan Jones’ contract.

Jones has been in ongoing discussions with members of the state College Board about the contract.

The College Board voted March 20 to begin a search for a new chancellor at the 23,000-student university. That move essentially meant a nonrenewal of Jones’ contract, which is to expire Sept. 14.

Many alumni, students and faculty have since been vocal in their support of Jones and have asked the College Board to reconsider.

College Board officials are expected to release a statement after the news conference, scheduled for 2 p.m. Central time on the Oxford campus.

It was unclear whether Jones would attend the news conference.
