OXFORD, Miss. (WCBI) — Ole Miss is stepping up security inside its stadium for Saturday’s game against Louisiana State.

School officials say fans can feel safe, thanks to a new Rebel Alert texting system, and security cameras.

Game attendees can alert officials through text messages about issues from broken seats to unruly fans.

The cameras throughout the stadium help emergency responders find the problem areas.

“If there’s an incident that’s taking place in the stadium and officers are responding, we can quickly find that location on the camera and follow the officers in, and then it’s on video,” said Chief Tim Potts, University police department.

Potts adds the cameras can also zoom in closely for good facial recognition.

The game against LSU kicks off at 2:30 p.m.
