Once In A Lifetime Love, Couple Celebrates Milestone

LOWNDES COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) – One Lowndes County couple is celebrating a big milestone.

The two have been married nearly seven decades.

Saturday evening was all about honoring  Isola and Joe Jones.

On October 12th, the two celebrate 68 years of wedded bliss.

Mrs. Jones says the key to a happy marriage is simple.

“I loved him when I married him and I still love him now,” said Isola Jones.

Surrounded by family and friends, memories were shared and songs were sung.

” To see my mom and dad celebrate their 68th wedding anniversary is probably one of the most precious things we have done over the years,” said one of their sons, Tommy Jones.

The Jones’ have 11 children, 31 grandchildren, 44 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren.

Family members say their parents have set an example for them to strive for.

“I’ve been married for 38 years and I’m trying to immolate my mother and father and I hope I can be married for 86 years,” added Jones.

The couple was married in Brooksville, they are members of El Bethel Baptist Church in Columbus.
