One Dead After Calhoun Altercation

CALHOUN COUNTY, Ms (WCBI) – One person is dead from a self inflicted gunshot wound after an altercation in Calhoun County.  Sheriff Greg Pollan says it all started about 10:30 Wednesday evening at a home on Highway 341 South just North of Vardaman.  That’s where 48 year old Jay Nix rammed his truck into his home where his estranged wife was still living.  Nix then fired several shots into the residence hitting a man inside the home.  Nix then left the scene and called the  Sheriff to tell him he could be found near the Skuna River Bridge at Bruce.  Pollan says when he arrived at that scene Nix took his own life.
