LOWNDES COUNTY, Miss. – (WCBI) An afternoon accident in Lowndes County leaves one man injured. It happened at 3:45 p.m Friday on Hwy. 45 Alt. in Lowndes County.

When a Graham Roofing truck was crossing the highway to get onto the Hwy 45 N exit, the truck reportedly pulled into the path of a southbound F-150 with Louisiana plates.

The 28-year old driver, who was not wearing his seat belt at the time of the crash, was trapped in his vehicle. It took the Jaws of Life to free him.

He was then transported to Baptist Golden Triangle for the treatment of an apparent broken leg and chest injuries.

Meanwhile, HAZMAT crews were called to the scene when the Graham Roofing truck leaked more than 50 gallons of hydraulic fluid onto the highway, creating traffic woes for travelers.

The Mississippi Highway Patrol is investigating the cause of this crash.
