Video: One Killed, One Injured in Columbus Shooting

COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) — Columbus police are investigating an early morning shooting that killed a man, and sent another one to the hospital.

Police say the shooting happened at the corner of Peach and Cherry Streets at around 1:30 a.m., Saturday.

One of the victims – a 22-year-old – was injured, and later flown to a Jackson hospital.

Witnesses tell WCBI the other victim wasn’t found for another five hours.

Family members looked for him, and later found him dead in some bushes near the scene of the shooting.

Lowndes County coroner Greg Merchant has identified the man killed as 24-year-old Joshua Anthony Richardson, of Columbus.

Police tell WCBI they haven’t made any arrests yet, and couldn’t comment on any suspects.

They’re still investigating what led up to the shooting.
